ABO Hemolytic Disease Of The Newborn

Destruction of the erythrocytes of a fetus; a maladaptive condition roughly twice as common as the Rhesus incompatibility form of HDN, but almost always clinically milder in its manifestation. Caused by some of the smaller anti-A or anti-B antibodies in a mother’s immune system penetrating the placental membranes.
