Atelidae Rosenberger, 1977

Family of ceboids that includes the larger-bodied New World Monkeys, namely the spider, woolly, and woolly spider monkeys, and howlers; some workers also include the sakis, bearded sakis, and uakaris. Not all authorities recognize this family and the monkeys in this group are often treated as a subfamily of the Cebidae or, in the case of the howlers, separated out as another distinct family.
