Avenius Amatorum

Archaic mammal from the early Eocene of Europe belonging to the plesiadapiform family Microsyopidae; monotypic; some authorities assign this genus to the order Insectivora. Estimated body mass around 8 g; if this organism is related to the primates, it would be the smallest one known. Small body size and dentition suggests insectivory.
