Brinton, Daniel Garrison

US anthropologist; among the first anthropologists in America and one of the first five to work in physical anthropology. Brinton was affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania museums; a specialist in native American origins, Brinton was one of those who, in Races and Peoples (1890), denied the Asiatic origin hypothesis for Native Americans.
