Subfamily of the catarrhine family Cercopithecidae, consisting of approximately 9genera and 54 species, and that includes the baboons, macaques, vervets, and guenons. Adjective: cercopithecine. Widely distributed group that ranges from western Africa into the islands of Southeast Asia. Cercopithecines are medium-sized species with few exceptions.
