Chetverikov, Sergei S. (1880-1959)

Russian geneticist; author of a 1926 paper which, taken with those of Fisher, Haldane and Wright c. 1930, led to the modern synthesis of genetics and evolutionary theory. Chetverikov was imprisoned after 1929 for his support of Mendelism rather than Lysenkoism.
