Dawson, Charles

English solicitor and antiquarian; locator of many of the fragments at Piltdown. Dawson has been suggested as both a perpetrator and victim of the subsequently unveiled Piltdown hoax. The putative fossil from that site, Eoanthropus dawsoni, was named for Dawson.
