Engelswies

Archaeological site in southern Germany dating to 17 mya; contains hominoid remains including an upper molar fragment with thick enamel, attributed to Hominoidea incertae sedis. This is currently (2003) the oldest hominoid found in Europe, and represents a species that arrived with other fauna, including pliopithecoids and Deinotherium.
