Gloger’s Law Or Rule

Empirical generalization that among homeotherms those varieties living in warm and humid regions are more heavily pigmented than those in cool dry regions; pigments are usually black near the equator (see eumelanin), red and yellow in hot and dry regions (see phaeomelanin), and reduced or absent in cool areas. Aka pigmentation rule.
