Guattari Cave

Archaeological site found in 1939 on the Tyhhrenian coast of western Italy, dated to 76-44 kya, and that contains Mousterian (Pontinian) artifacts. Fragmentary hominid remains were assigned to Homo neanderthalensis, and were reportedly found in a circle of stones, but some suggest that this is more likely a hyena collection site. Grotta Guattari is located in the Monte Circeo cave complex.
