Human immune-response, D-related anti-gen on lymphoid cells, encoded by the D locus of the HLA complex. Humans with haplotypes containing the DR3 antigen are associated with or strongly predisposed to adrenoleukodystrophy, celiac disease, Grave’s disease, dermatitis herpetiformis, early-age onset myasthenia gravis, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile diabetes (see diabetes mellitus, type I), and opportunistic infections in AIDS.
