Huxley, Julian S. (1887-1975)

British biologist whose studies of human variation resulted in his coinage of the term cline (1939); this led to a non-race statement in the UNESCO Statement on Race, an institution of which he was the first general director. Huxley later founded the World Wildlife Fund (now the World Wide Fund for Nature).
