Johnston, Francis E.

US physical anthropologist; specialist in childhood development and growth physiology, especially with respect to nutritional effects. Editor of the AJPA (1977-83), Human Biology (1987-8), and the American Journal of Human Biology (1988-90); president, AAPA (1983-5); was instrumental in founding the Human Biology Association. Co-editor (with D. H. O’Rourke and G. M. Peterson) of Genetics, Evolution, and Disease (1983).
