Kettlewell, Henry B. D.

English ecologist, lepidopterist and geneticist. After field studies in South Africa (1949-52), Kettlewell was a genetics researcher at Oxford; remembered for his explanation of industrial melanism in the peppered moth (Biston betularia), Kettlewell documented one of the first clear instances of natural selection in the wild.
