La Ferrassie Rockshelter

Archaeological site excavated in 1909-12 and reworked in 1920-1 and 1973 near Bugue, Dordogne, France, dated to 38-28 kya (Würm II), and that contains artifacts (see La Ferrassie assemblage). Hominid remains are from the intentional burials of at least two adults and six children and neonates (aka the family cemetery) assigned to Homo neanderthalensis. The adult male has a cranial capacity of 1640-1681 cm3.
