Lascaux (Cave)

Archaeological site found in 1940 near Montignac in the Dordogne, France, dated to 17-15 kya, and that contains Perigordian-age artifacts, 600 elaborate pieces of cave art, and 1500 engravings. For site conservation reasons, the cave is now closed to the public, but replicas of the main galleries have been recreated nearby.
