Libyapithecus Markgrafi Stromer, 1913

Colobine known from the late Miocene of North Africa; monotypic; known only from a single skull and isolated lower molar. Estimated body mass around 8 kg. Face is longer relative to extant colobines. Dental formula: 2.1.2.3/2.1.2.3; molars possess shearing crests adapted to a folivorous diet.
