Nannopithex Stehlin, 1916

Genus of tarsiiform primate from the middle Eocene of Europe belonging to the omomyoid family Microchoeridae; approximately eight species; earliest and most primitive microchoerid; some workers argue that this genus is ancestral to Necrolemur. Short snout; nocturnal; body mass for the species ranges between 125 and 200 g. Dental formula: 2.1.3.3/2.1.2.3; dental morphology suggestive of insectivory.
