Ndutu Bed

Fossil-bearing sedimentary layer in Olduvai Gorge dated 400-32 kya (K/Ar), yielding hominid fossils such as Homo sp. (OH 11); tools are found in the Upper Ndutu only, and are Middle Stone Age tools made by a Levallois technique. Fauna is identical to living African species, except for a giant form of baboon, Theropithecus.
