Necrolemur Filhol, 1873

Genus of tarsiiform primate from the late Eocene of Europe belonging to the omomyoid family Microchoeridae; two species; some workers think that this is the direct descendant of the earlier Nannopithex. Short snout; nocturnal; body mass around 300 g. Dental formula: 2.1.3.3/ 2.1.2.3; procumbent incisor that appears to have been used for gouging (as used by a gummivore) as well as for grooming; overall dental morphology suggestive of frugivory with gum supplements. Known postcrania indicate some leaping capabilities.
