Ohno’s Hypotheses

That the X chromosome is highly conserved among mammals owing to the dosage compensation mechanism; translocations between the X chromosome and any autosome would disturb this mechanism and be selected against. Thus, any gene found on the human X is also likely to be found on nearly all mammalian X chromosomes. Aka Ohno’s law, law of conservation of the X chromosome.
