Omo Valley

Archaeological region north of Lake Turkana in East Africa; the Omo deposits had been discovered by Compte de Boaz in 1902. Arambourg had worked the area in 1934, but it then lay fallow until 1959, when Clark Howell surveyed the region. Intense surveys began after 1966. Aka Lower Omo Valley.
