Palaeopropithecidae

Subfossil Malagasy prosimian family to which the sloth lemurs belong. There are four genera and five species. Affinities appear to be with the Indriidae. All members of this family have experienced a recent extinction, possibly due to human intervention.

See Mesopithecus, Babakotia, Palaeopropithecus, and Archaeoindris.
