Palenochtha (Simpson, 1937)

Archaic mammal known from the middle to late Paleocene of North America, belonging to the Plesiadapiformes family Palaechthonidae; monotypic. Body mass estimated to average 20 g. Dental formula: 2.1.2.3; enlarged incisors, reduced canines; sharp cusps on molars. Diet probably insectivory.
