Paromomys Gidley, 1923

Archaic mammal known from the middle Paleocene of North America belonging to the Plesiadapiformes family Paromomyidae; two species; most primitive of the paromomyids; postulated to share a common ancestor with Palaechthon and Plesiolestes; appears to be the ancestor of Ignacius and Phenacolemur. Known only from dentition and mandibular remains. Dental formula of mandible: 2.1.3.3; diet probably fruit. Body mass of the species between 100g and 300 g.
