Platychaerops Charlesworth, 1854

Archaic mammal belonging to the family Plesiadapidae from the early Eocene of Europe consisting of two species; first plesiadapid described (although not recognized as a primate at the time). Derived from Plesiadapis. Dental formula: 1.1.3.3/1.0.2.3; body size (estimated at 2 kg) and crenulated upper molars suggest diet of folivory supplemented with fruit.
