Pronothodectes Gidley, 1923

Archaic mammal and earliest member of the family Plesiadapidae from the middle Paleocene of North America; consists of three species. It has been suggested that Pronothodectes is the ancestor of Plesiadapis and Nannodectes. Known from jaws and teeth. Dental formula: 2.1.3.3. Estimated body mass around 300 g.
