Ptolemaic Cosmogony

Proposal that the planets and other celestial bodies orbited the earth; the complexity of the system was cumbersome, as planets were required to orbit in epicycles, deferents, etc.; proposed by Claudius Ptolemy (90-168). Aka geocentrism, it was replaced by the heliocentrism of Galileo and Copernicus.
