Anthropoid from the late Eocene and early Oligocene of North Africa belonging to the catarrhine family Parapithecidae; two species recognized. Known from mandibles and teeth. Dental formula: 2.1.3.3/2.1.3.3; low rounded cusps on molars suggest frugivory and perhaps gummivory. Estimated body mass around 300 g.
