Quaternary (period)

Most recent period of the Cenozoic era, lasting from approximately 1.6 mya to the present, and consisting of the Pleistocene and Holocene epochs. The fourth period of an older classification (1921) that also included the Primary (Paleozoic), Secondary (Mesozoic) and Tertiary period. Aka Anthropogene.
