RNA Virus

Infectious agent consisting of a single-stranded genome. Because the RNA must revert to a double-stranded DNA form before it can be replicated, many RNA viruses, such as the Rous Sarcoma Virus or the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, are known as retroviruses and contain other proteins such as reverse transcriptase.
