Rhesus Factor

One of the alleles at the Rhesus blood group locus; in practice usually referring to the presence of either one or two dominant D alleles in an individual genotype, and that produces the Rh phenotype. This group of red blood cell anti-gens was discovered when it was found that some humans have red blood cells that react with antibodies formed against Rhesus macaque cells. Aka Rh Factor.
