Simiolus Gitau, 1995

Genus of hominoids from the early Miocene of East Africa belonging to the catarrhine family Proconsulidae; two species recognized; previously included within Micropithecus. Estimated body mass around 7 kg. Dental formula: 2.1.2.3; dental morphology suggestive of folivory. Postcrania suggest this genus had more suspensory abilities than most other Miocene apes.
