Southern Blot Analysis

Method of identification developed by E. M. Southern in which DNA fragments are cleaved by a restriction enzyme, separated by electrophoresis, electroblotted onto a suitable nitrocellulose or nylon membrane, denatured, and hybridized with a labeled cDNA acid probe. Aka Southern blotting, Southern hybridization.
