Stringer, Christopher B.

(1947-) British paleontologist, director of the Human Origins Group at the Natural History Museum in London. Challenged the theory proposing a European origin for Homo sapiens and that Neandertals are ancestral to AMHs. Stringer collaborates at numerous sites, and currently directs the Ancient Human Occupation of Britain project. Co-author (with Clive Gamble) of In Search of the Neanderthals (1993); (with Robin McKie) African Exodus: The Origins of Modern Humanity (1997); and (with J. Weiner) The Piltdown Forgery (2003).
