1. suborder of order Primates that consists of the tarsiers and their extinct relatives; this suborder was established on morphological and chromosomal traits including features that are unique to this group and not shared with either prosimians or anthropoids; although recognized in this dictionary, it is not widely accepted.

2. superfamily within the prosimian infraorder Tarsiiformes when the tarsiers are included in the Prosimii.
