Genus of tarsiiform primate from the early Eocene of North America belonging to the omomyid subfamily Anaptomorphinae; six species; earliest and most primitive member of the omomyoids and the probable ancestor to later families and subfamilies; systematics and taxonomic placement subject to debate. Small, with most species around 100 g. Dental formula: 2.1.4.3/2.1.4.3; primitive dental formula for the anaptomorphines, later members having reduced numbers of teeth; dental morphology, coupled with small body size, suggests insectivory.
