Thorne, Alan G.

Australian journalist, archaeologist, and physical anthropologist who excavated the Mungo remains. Thorne is a supporter of the center and edge version of the multiregional continuity model, with views similar to those of Wolpoff on the Neandertal question. Coeditor (with R. L. Kirk) of The Origin of the Australian (1976), and coauthor (with R. Raymond) of Man on the Rim (1989).
