Tupaia Raffles, 1821

Genus in the order Scandentia, to which the tree shrews belong; eleven species recognized. Distributed from South Asia to the islands of Southeast Asia. Semi-terrestrial, although a few species are mostly arboreal; diurnal; quadrupedal. Body mass 100-300 g. Insectivorous with fruit and seed supplements.
