Victoriapithecinae

As used in some classificatory schemes, a subfamily of the extinct catarrhine family Victoriapithecidae; a group of middle Miocene (12-8mya) East African colobines that may be ancestral to cercopithecines and colobines. Consists of the two genera Victoriapithecus and Prohylobates. Dental morphology suggests a primary diet of hard fruit.
