Xenothrix Williams And Koopman, 1952

Jamaican monkey; monotypic platyrrhine genus (X. mcgregori is the only recognized species); recently extinct. Postcrania and mandible recovered from archeological site dated to 2145 BP, but actual date of extinction uncertain (it has been speculated that this species survived up to the eighteenth century). Body mass around 2 kg. Dental formula: 2.1.3.2, which suggests affinities with the callitrichids; however, the structure of the molars is quite different from that of the living callitrichids; probably frugivorous.
