Adolescent Stage (or Period)

Interval in the human life cycle preceeding adulthood that is characterized by the adolescent growth spurt in height and body mass, fusion of the epiphyses of the long bones, development of secondary sexual characteristics, continuation or completion of adult tooth eruption, sociosexual maturation, and intensification of interest in and practice of adult social roles. The stage commences at puberty and lasts five to eight years; aka adolescence.
