Angular Process

Posterior ventral projection of the mammalian mandible where the ascending ramus and mandibular body meet. The medial pterygoid muscle attaches to its medial side and the masseter muscle attaches to its lateral side. This structure is present in some of the prosimians, but in most primates has been replaced by the mandibular angle.
