  • -id > 9:3

Scientific study of the culture, biology, evolution, and behavior of humans, their ancestors, and their evolutionary relatives, the nonhuman primates. Anthropology is divided into subfields: biological or physical anthropology is the life-science branch, whereas cultural anthropology is the social science branch. Archaeology and linguistic anthropology are the other two traditional subfields. Exact definitions vary significantly from one learning institution to another; in the Old World the term is generally limited to physical anthropology.
