Aesthetic embellishment of objects, dwellings, and/or the human body. Art is of significance to the study of human prehistory because embellishment seems to be a feature primarily of AMHs (see the Aurignacian), although some researchers maintain that the Neanderthals were capable of art (see the Châtelperronian).
