Basicranium

Region of the cranium that is composed of the ethmoid, sphenoid, petrous and mastoid portions of the temporal bone, as well as a part of the occipital bone. The basicranium forms the floor of the cranium and develops through endochondral ossification. Aka viscerocranium, basocranium.
