Beta-aminoisobutyric Acid

Amino acid that is normally excreted in small amounts in the urine. This has been used as a genetic marker by population geneticists because the amount excreted varies in different populations. This trait is inherited as a simple Mendelian recessive pattern of inheritance, with homozygous recessive individuals being the highest excretors of BAIB.
