Birth Synchrony

Condition in which reproductive females in a population all give birth at the same time. There are various explanations for this including: effects of individual’s pheromones on all females; producing large numbers of offspring and flooding the environment so that the chances of any one young being taken by predators is reduced; or simply being born at the optimal time for resources in the environment.

See breeding season.
