Cerumen

Wax-like substance secreted by glands that line the external ear canal. The functional purpose of cerumen may be to trap insects that enter the ear. Cerumen is inherited as a simple Mendelian trait and is polymorphic with a yellow waxy variety (dominant) and a gray dry variety. Frequencies of the two varieties of cerumen vary in human populations. Aka earwax.
