Clavicle

One of a pair of S-shaped bones of the mammalian pectoral girdle; these bones connect the shoulder to the axial skeleton and brace the scapulae. Clavicles are considered a primitive trait; many mammals have lost this structure and retention in primates is believed to be associated with an arboreal lifestyle. Animals with a clavicle are described as claviculate. Aka key or collar bone.
